Prejama Slovenia is just a short trip north, across the border into Slovenia. The Predjama castle is built into a mountian side with a series of caves behind it. It was first mentioned in 1274, so it is rather new! We made several trips here, eating cevapcici (pronounced chevapchichi) at the castle diner.
